It’s a puzzle that’s become crucially important: Why after more than three decades are we still not able to take decisions and the action needed to safeguard our planet now and for future generations?

Why do we, as a species, continue to play fast-and-loose with our planetary home – if not safety-last then just the ‘safety we can afford’ approach? If our ‘house is on fire’ why would we be counting the cost before calling the fire brigade? How much longer can this go on – and what can we do about it? We need to understand this problem in order to tackle it – and politics-as-usual hasn’t worked.

Could it be that it’s the unseen gorilla in the room that’s dictating the agenda? Framing our collective thinking and decision making so effectively as to cripple our thinking and so our response?

How can we step back far enough and in time to prevent yet more loss and damage to humanity and planet? To identify the unseen gorilla?
